چکیده

Composite films of polyfluorene derivative poly~9,9-di-~2-ethylhexyl!-fluorenyl-2,7-diyl! and cadmium selenide nanocrystals were investigated using photomodulation spectroscopy exciting only the nanocrystal phase. Efficient charge separation resulting in hole injection into the polymer was observed in films in which the nanocrystals had been stripped of surface trioctylphosphine oxide passivating groups. The resulting induced absorption band centered at 1.2 eV was assigned to bipolarons or p-dimers formed on the polymer in the near vicinity of the polymer/nanocrystal interface. The intensity dependence of this band suggests bimolecular recombination, supporting the interpretation of the band as due to charge separation. The measured wide distribution of lifetimes for the photogenerated states confirms the glassy nature of the polymer. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1513214#

The influence of applied magnetic fields on the optical properties of zero- and one-dimensional CdSe nanocrystals.

Shape-dependent exciton relaxation dynamics of CdSe 0-D nanocrystals and 1-D nanorods were studied using low-temperature (4.2 K), time-resolved and intensity-integrated magneto-photoluminscence (MPL) spectroscopy. Analysis of the average MPL rate constants from several different nanocrystal quantum dots and rods excited by 400 nm light in applied magnetic fields up to 17.5 T revealed size-depen...

Energy relaxation in CdSe nanocrystals: the effects of morphology and film preparation.

Ultrafast time-resolved absorption spectroscopy is used to investigate exciton dynamics in CdSe nanocrystal films. The effects of morphology, quantum-dot versus quantum-rod, and preparation of nanocrystals in a thin film form are investigated. The measurements revealed longer intraband exciton relaxation in quantum-rods than in quantum-dots. The slowed relaxation in quantum-rods is due to mitig...

Tunable magnetic exchange interactions in manganese-doped inverted core-shell ZnSe-CdSe nanocrystals.

Magnetic doping of semiconductor nanostructures is actively pursued for applications in magnetic memory and spin-based electronics. Central to these efforts is a drive to control the interaction strength between carriers (electrons and holes) and the embedded magnetic atoms. In this respect, colloidal nanocrystal heterostructures provide great flexibility through growth-controlled 'engineering'...

Temperature dependence of the spectral band shape of CdSe nanodots and nanorods

We study theoretically the effect of thermal population on the emission spectrum of single CdSe nanocrystals. Quantum confinement leads to nonsimple emission band shapes, which have different characteristics for excitons, biexcitons, positive, and negative trions. These effects are particularly pronounced in nanorods. The maximum of the emission band is not necessarily centered at the fundament...

Solvent-like ligand-coated ultrasmall cadmium selenide nanocrystals: strong electronic coupling in a self-organized assembly.

Strong inter-nanocrystal electronic coupling is a prerequisite for delocalization of exciton wave functions and high conductivity. We report 170 meV electronic coupling energy of short chain poly(ethylene glycol) thiolate-coated ultrasmall (<2.5 nm in diameter) CdSe semiconductor nanocrystals (SNCs) in solution. Cryo-transmission electron microscopy analysis showed the formation of a pearl-neck...
